وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ 1 . Woe unto the defrauders :

الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُواْ عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ 2 . Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full ,

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ 3 . But if they measure unto them or weigh for them , they cause them loss .

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ 4 . Do such ( men ) not consider that they will be again

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 5 . Unto an awful Day ,

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ 6 . The day when ( all ) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds?

كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ 7 . Nay , but the record of the vile is in Sijjin

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ 8 . Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is!

كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُومٌ 9 . A written record .

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ 10 . Woe unto the repudiators on that day!

الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ 11 . Those who deny the Day of Judgment

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ 12 . Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor ,

إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ 13 . Who , when thou readest unto him Our revelations , saith : ( Mere ) fables of the men of old

كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ 14 . Nay , but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts .

كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ 15 . Nay , but surely on that day they will be covered from ( the mercy of ) their Lord .

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الْجَحِيمِ 16 . Then lo! they verily will burn in hell ,

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ 17 . And it will be said ( unto them ) : This is that which ye used to deny .

كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ 18 . Nay , but the record of the righteous is in Iliyin

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ 19 . Ah , what will convey unto thee what Iliyin is!

كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُومٌ 20 . A written record ,

يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ 21 . Attested by those who are brought near ( unto their Lord ) .

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ 22 . Lo! the righteous verily are in delight ,

عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ 23 . On couches , gazing ,

تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ 24 . Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ 25 . They are given to drink of a pure wine , sealed ,

خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ وَفِي ذَلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ 26 . Whose seal is musk . For this let ( all ) those strive who strive for bliss

وَمِزَاجُهُ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ 27 . And mixed with water of Tasnim ,

عَيْناً يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ 28 . A spring whence those brought near to Allah drink

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُواْ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ 29 . Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed ,

وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ 30 . And wink one to another when they passed them ;

وَإِذَا انقَلَبُواْ إِلَى أَهْلِهِمُ انقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ 31 . And when they returned to their own folk , they returned jetting ;

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَؤُلَاء لَضَالُّونَ 32 . And when they saw them they said : Lo! these have gone astray .

وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ 33 . Yet they were not sent as guardians over them .

فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ 34 . This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers ,

عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ 35 . On high couches , gazing .

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ 36 . Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do?
